Who is a candidate for LASIK? LASIK is a wonderful procedure both for nearsighted persons and farsighted persons and people with substantial amounts of stigmatism. With today’s lasers relatively few patients cannot be helped. There are other considerations for a patient’s candidacy and we determine all of these at the time of what we refer to as a LASIK screening. At the screening, we generally try to cover all of the patients concerns or questions including the cost to the procedure which is detailed elsewhere on this website. Now at South Texas Eye Institute we do not change the cost to the procedure based on how much treatment you need, that remains constant.
