After the technological upgrade of all laser LASIK, the upgrade that has been most meaningful to patients has been WaveScan or WavePrint guiding of the laser application. This is variously referred to as custom view or custom cornea but it is all sound wave guided laser treatment. Even as your fingerprint is unique to you, your cornea will produce a unique wave print pattern and the software algorithm will interpret this and this is what we use to set your laser treatment. Now the surgeon based on his or her experience may make an adjustment to this but in general it provides a very specific unique application of the laser for your particular need.
