What are the Advantages of the EVO Visian ICL?

When it comes to vision correction procedures, LASIK isn’t your only option. There are several vision correction procedures to choose from.

One of these options is called the EVO Visian ICL. The EVO Visian ICL is a procedure that implants an additive lens in your eye to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism.

This method of vision correction has numerous advantages over other vision correction procedures. Keep reading to learn about the advantages of choosing the EVO Visian ICL!

Minimally-Invasive Procedure

EVO Visian ICL procedure is a straightforward procedure. The ICL, or Implantable Collamer Lens, is easily implanted inside the eye.

Your surgeon only needs to create a tiny incision to access the chamber in front of your eye’s natural lens. The ICL is folded up and pushed through this incision.

After being moved through the incision, the EVO Visian ICL is unfurled and positioned to sit in front of your natural lens. Once placed, the procedure is complete. The incision is small enough that it heals independently without any stitches.

The EVO Visian ICL works much like a regular contact lens, correcting your refractive error by changing the way light refracts before it passes through the natural lens inside your eye. But instead of sitting on your eye and being removed, the ICL sits inside your eye, and you never need to remove it.

The EVO ICL is made of collamer. Collamer is a material that’s closely related to a protein produced by your body called collagen. Because collamer is so similar to collagen, the EVO Visian ICL is highly biocompatible.

It works with your eye’s natural chemistry and integrates well with the rest of your eye. Not only does this make the procedure easier, but it also means that recovery after having the EVO Visian ICL placed in your eye is minimal.

Easy Recovery

A minimally invasive procedure means an easier recovery. Recovery from the EVO Visian ICL takes a few weeks.

During this time, you can do most of what you usually would. There’s no long or drawn-out recovery time to stress out about.

Instead, you can do the things you love with better vision than ever before. The EVO Visian ICL is an outpatient procedure, so you’ll go home the same day you have it done. Discomfort is minimal and tends only to last a day or two.

Because the ICL is biocompatible, the EVO Visian ICL also carries a lower risk for post-surgical dry eye and other long-lasting side effects. The procedure hardly disturbs any tissue in your eye.

The EVO Visian ICL integrates naturally with the rest of your eye. Once healed, you won’t even be able to feel the EVO Visian ICL at all! The only person who needs to know it’s in your eye is you because it’s virtually undetectable after it’s in your eye.

An Alternative to LASIK

The EVO Visian ICL is an excellent alternative to the LASIK procedure for patients who would otherwise qualify for LASIK but have thin corneas. Undergoing LASIK requires creating a corneal flap, so you won’t qualify for LASIK if your corneas aren’t thick enough to accommodate a flap.

Getting LASIK if your corneas are too thin can make the procedure unsafe. But the EVO Visian ICL doesn’t require a flap, so patients with thin corneas can still have it.

Now, EVO Visian ICL does only correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. It cannot correct farsightedness.

But if you’re moderately to severely nearsighted, the EVO Visian ICL has a distinct advantage over LASIK, as it can correct nearsightedness to a greater degree. LASIK can correct up to -11.00 diopters, whereas the EVO Visian ICL can correct up to -23.00 diopters!

If you’re severely nearsighted, EVO Visian ICL may be the only procedure that can fully correct your vision.

The Only Reversible Vision Correction Procedure

Patients who are good candidates for LASIK or other vision correction procedures may still prefer EVO Visian ICL because of its various advantages. In addition to being a minimally invasive procedure, the EVO Visian ICL is the only reversible vision correction procedure.

You’ll never need to have the EVO Visian ICL removed from your eye and can sit inside it indefinitely, but you can have it removed if you ever change your mind. This fact may give you peace of mind, as permanently altering your vision can seem daunting.

With the EVO Visian ICL, you can rest assured that the choice is always in your hands if you want to remove it. But most patients love the EVO Visian ICL so much they have no reason to take it out!

Built-In UV Protection

Not only is the EVO Visian ICL made of a highly biocompatible material, but the collamer lens also offers a degree of UV protection. Damage from UV rays can cause a variety of eye problems, putting you at higher risk for eye conditions, especially as you get older.

You should always protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses when you’re outside. But having built-in UV protection in your eyes can give you another layer of defense and help keep your eyes healthy.

You should still wear sunglasses outside even if you get the EVO Visian ICL; you’ll have that extra protection, further lowering your risk for damage from the sun’s UV rays.

Total Visual Freedom

The main thing most people want out of a vision correction procedure is freedom from glasses and contact lenses. The EVO Visian ICL can give you this freedom.

The EVO ICL can give you clear, 20/20 vision or better for years and years, eliminating the hassle and cost of traditional lenses. If you’re nearsighted and have astigmatism, the EVO Visian ICL is an incredible choice for vision correction.
